Tyndale Theological Seminary

Announcing Dr. Robert K. MacEwen has been promoted

Robert K. Mac Ewen.

In the fall semester of the current academic year, 2023–2024, the seminary’s Faculty Senate recommended Dr. Robert K. MacEwen to be promoted to the rank of full Professor of New Testament Language and Literature. Tyndale’s Board of Directors approved the Faculty Senate’s recommendation during their November meeting with an effective date of 1 December 2023.

On 14 March 2024, the faculty, staff, and students of the seminary as well as invited guests gathered to listen to the inaugural address of Professor MacEwen entitled: "Judas Iscariot: Villain, Victim, or Hero?" The lecture was held in Tyndale’s chapel, not in the classroom. This was not merely for practical reasons, because for the men and women of Tyndale Theological Seminary, theology is a matter of confession and profession, of faith and trust in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Professor MacEwen was a missionary in Taiwan, Singapore, and China before coming to Tyndale, and he presently holds an adjunct faculty position at East Asia School of Theology in Singapore. He is passionate about teaching students how to interpret the Scriptures and apply the Word of God in such a way as to help others. He is a leading specialist in New Testament Studies concerning the Synoptic Gospels. His work on Matthean Posteriority is both read and often quoted by other scholars. Professor MacEwen is an esteemed colleague as well as Tyndale’s Academic Dean since 2019, leading the faculty with grace and generosity.
