Tyndale Theological Seminary

Three new faculty members

Dr. Rob MacEwen, Academic Dean - January 2024

I am happy to announce the recent appointment of three new part-time faculty members—one for each of our three main departments.

Mrs. Nelleke Yakubu, an Associate Faculty member, is an Instructor in the Department of Biblical and Exegetical Studies. She teaches Hebrew 1 and Hebrew 2, courses that lay an essential foundation for the Old Testament exegesis courses. Nelleke holds an MA in Biblical Hebrew from Leiden University and an MTh in Old Testament from Kampen University (now Protestant Theological University). Before her appointment as an Associate Faculty member, she served as a volunteer Hebrew tutor and taught a “pre-Hebrew” course to prepare students for success in studying the language. Nelleke is married to Dr. Rahman Yakubu, Tyndale’s Assistant Professor of Intercultural Studies. They were previously missionaries in Ghana and now serve as directors of the mission agency Frontiers Netherlands. Nelleke’s cross-cultural experience enables her to relate well to Tyndale’s diverse student body. She is an effective and creative teacher who makes learning Hebrew engaging and unforgettable.

Mrs. Alice Atkins, an Adjunct Faculty member, is an Instructor in the Department of Practical and Intercultural Theology, teaching Cross-Cultural Christianity. Alice holds an MA in Biblical Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary and is certified as a CQ professional by the Cultural Intelligence Center, LLC. She is a Trainer and Supervisor with the IFES NL International Students Ministry. Her husband, Dr. J. D. Atkins, is Associate Professor of New Testament Language and Literature at Tyndale. Alice’s years of experience in cross-cultural ministry and her keen understanding of how culture impacts individuals and organizations make her a great asset to Tyndale.

Dr. Kees van Kralingen, an Adjunct Faculty member, is an Instructor in the Department of Systematic and Historical Theology. He holds a PhD in Apologetics and Systematic Theology from the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam and a PhD in Chemistry from the Delft University of Technology. Kees teaches Pneumatology and Foundations for Theology. He is Secretary/Treasurer of the board of The Gospel Coalition, Netherlands & Flanders. He also regularly preaches and teaches at various churches in the Netherlands. Kees began his ministry at Tyndale by giving a lecture on “The Apologetics of Paul” for the school’s annual Colloquium in October 2021. Since then, he has been one of our regular teachers. Kees’s extensive leadership experience in church, parachurch, and industry, as well as his erudition, make him a valuable member of Tyndale’s faculty.
