Dr. Linda grew up going to church and believed in Christ from a young age. Music runs in her family; she is a violinist and also sang her first solo in Sunday School at the age of 3. When she was thirteen, and many people were reading books about Bible prophecy, she read her grandfather’s copy of Hal Lindsey’s The Late Great Planet Earth and prayed “officially” to receive Christ. After that, she noticed a hunger to read the Bible and witness to others.
Later, as a university student and member of the local Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IFES), she discovered that in Scripture Jesus calls us to go into all the world and make disciples. This truth has been the impetus for her studies in theology and the life she and her husband Phil have had since 1986 as missionaries in Serbia, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands. Discipling young believers and training leaders have been the common threads in all those various ministries. Dr. Gottschalk and her husband have been blessed with three children and one grandchild. She loves to teach, write, read, and make music with friends. She is inspired by C. S. Lewis, the study of history and languages, the Church Year, travel, and seeing people learn to think.
