Students with Disabilities Policy
Tyndale Theological Seminary’s policy is to actively support diversity, inclusion and equality of educational opportunity. The Dutch Government and Tyndale Theological Seminary require all master’s level program applicants to take an English test and to submit their score as a part of the application process. Exceptions are made for students who have completed their entire education (primary, secondary and bachelor) in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, UK, or USA.
The minimum English language proficiency requirements for admission to a master's program at Tyndale are:
For TOEFL and IELTS, the test institute will have to forward the results directly to our office. The institutional TOEFL code for Tyndale Theological Seminary is 9677.
For TOEFL or IELTS, the test must have been completed no more than two years before 1 February of the year in which your program starts.
Please note that students who need a visa to the Netherlands must submit their English test results before 31 January. Students who don't need a visa must submit their test results before 30 April.
The Dutch Code of Conduct for international students in higher education sets forth certain standards for international students seeking to study in the Netherlands, including English language requirements of applicants. This includes the scores required for international students to be accepted into an English-speaking program in the Netherlands. Applicants for study at Tyndale must take one of the English-speaking tests required by the Dutch government.
For an international student to participate in one of Tyndale's programs, the applicant must have obtained at least a 6.0 (IELTS) or 80 (TOEFL) score. However, the Code also sets forth two exceptions to the mandatory English test scores. First, the Code provides that if the applicant does not reach the required score, the school may offer a preparatory English study program of up to six months for the applicant so long as the applicant has scored a 5.5 (IELTS) or 70-79 (TOEFL). (Article 4.2) The Code also provides that "a higher education institution may exempt international student who have had their preparatory education in English, from having to take a mandatory language test." (Article 4.3)
In 2014, Tyndale commenced its first Preparatory Academic English (PAE) program (formerly known as Pre-Admission English program) at the seminary. This first class of four students successfully completed their studies in 2017. The seminary has decided to continue this program from time-to-time as qualified students apply. Should you possess all the other requirements for applying for admission to one of Tyndale's master's programs but have not attained a high enough score on your English entrance exam (such as TOEFL or IELTS), you may wish to consider applying to our PAE program. For further information regarding Tyndale's PAE program, please contact Joy Buswell at firstname.lastname@example.org or Nenad Tunguz at email@example.com
