After teaching at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, Illinois, USA) for thirty-four years, Dr. Senter retired and was named Professor Emeritus. Administrative responsibilities included Educational Ministries Department Chair, Vice President and Dean of the Division of Open Studies, and the normal committee assignments.
Ordained by the Evangelical Free Church of America, Dr. Senter Dr. Senter served as a youth pastor and as pastor of Christian education at Wheaton Bible Church prior to joining Faculty at Trinity. His areas of expertise include youth ministry, volunteerism, leadership, and distance education. He was a member of the North American Professors of Christian Education and maintains his membership in the Association of Youth Ministry Educators. He served as Chair of the AYME Board and contributes articles on the history of youth ministry to the association's journal.
On assignment from Trinity International University/Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Dr. Senter helped found and served for two years at Torch Trinity Graduate School of Theology in Seoul, Korea, as a visiting professor in Education Ministries. In addition, he has served as visiting professor a various school in the United States, Russia, and Nepal. This is the second time for Dr. Senter to teach at Tyndale Theological Seminary.
Books by Dr. Senter include editor and contributor to The Complete Book of Youth Ministry, Reaching a Generation for Christ, and Four Views of Youth Ministry and the Church. Authored works include The Art of Recruiting Volunteers in the Church, Recruiting Volunteers in the Church, The Coming Revolution in Youth Ministry, and when God Shows Up; a History of Protestant Youth Ministry in America.
Dr. Senter and his wife, Ruth, reside in north suburban Chicago. They have two grown children. Ruth is also an author. In his spare time, Dr. Senter enjoys sports, biking, and photography.
