Who We Are

•  William Tyndale, our namesake, was a man used greatly by God in his day. He was committed, whatever the cost, to accomplishing the mission the Lord had for him. For Tyndale, Christianity wasn’t just a religious observance, but a deep, burning encounter which manifested itself in a holy life. He spoke of the Gospel wherever he went

   

• Tyndale was a man in love with the Scriptures. He was one of the finest scholars of his age. He stood at the very forefront of knowledge about the original languages of the Bible. He was committed to translating God’s Word not just from one language to another, but also into the hearts, lives and minds of everyday people. Frustrated with the clerical ignorance of his day, he is reported to have said to a visiting prelate, “If God spare my life, ere many years pass, I will cause a boy that driveth the plough shall know more of the Scriptures than thou dost.”

   

• Though eventually it cost him his life, God honoured Tyndale’s vision. A short two years after Tyndale’s martyrdom in Antwerp, King Henry VIII ordered that a complete Bible in English be placed in every parish church in Tyndale’s native England. And the Bible that was placed there depended in no small measure on the work of Tyndale.

   

• Are you serious about reaching the world? So are we. Do you long to touch the lives of your countrymen and women with the message of the Gospel? So do we. Today, Tyndale’s values still continue to drive us at Tyndale Seminary. We seek to be solidly grounded in God’s word, handling the original languages with skill. We are committed to helping students translate Scripture not only from Greek and Hebrew into their own language, but also into changed lives - lives that count for the Kingdom.

   

• As a graduate professional school, we train men and women for outreach around the world – with knowledge, with skills and with practical experience. We have been doing so for more than 20 years. We believe the Gospel is the only answer for a lost and fallen world. We also believe it takes transformed messengers to proclaim a transforming message.
