Tyndale By Extension is an opportunity to take classes from Tyndale Theological Seminary during evenings and/or weekends at a time and place more convenient to you.
Why Tyndale By Extension?
This program is designed to provide first-level biblical and theological training for the Christian community in the Netherlands. The program seeks to assist people in the working world who wish to gain a stronger understanding of the Bible, but in an evening or weekend setting which is more conducive to their family or work life. Additionally, this program provides course offerings helpful to the in-residence portion of the Master of Divinity (MDiv) at the seminary.
How is instruction given?
Tyndale By Extension includes classes that may be held in the evening or on weekends either at the Tyndale campus in Badhoevedorp or Rotterdam. Tyndale professors also have conducted Tyndale By Extension courses in other locations where a group of ten or more students share a common interest in a particular class or subject matter. While most classes are taught in English, some Dutch-language classes are available.
Who may come to the classes?
Courses are open to any member of the Christian community who resides legally in the Netherlands or any other EU country. In addition, appropriate courses are open to a MDiv student in conjunction with the advice of the student’s academic adviser. Class members will include those who are taking the coursework toward the Tyndale By Extension Certificate of Christian Studies, toward the MDiv degree, as well as those who are auditing. All courses offered are taught at the MDiv level of instruction. Each of the courses will be valued according to ECTS (European Credit Transfer & Accumulation System) for the amount of work expected.
How do I earn the Certificate of Christian Studies?
Any non-MDiv student who successfully completes the work equivalent to 18 ECTS will be given a Tyndale By Extension Certificate of Christian Studies by Tyndale Theological Seminary. A recipient of the Tyndale By Extension Certificate of Christian Studies does not automatically qualify for admittance to other Tyndale degree programs. However, a certificate recipient is encouraged to consider applying to such programs.
What are the costs?
Each course is billed by ECTS as well as books and classroom materials. ECTS are charged at a rate of €55 per ECTS for credit or €25 per ECTS for non-credit. The costs of textbooks and classroom materials vary according to the course.
