Tyndale Theological Seminary

Specific Program Requirements

Master of Divinity (MDiv)

Bachelor of Arts/Science degree or equivalent from an approved vocational or academic institution. The applicant’s first degree should include 180-240 ECTS or 3-4 academic years.

Master of Evangelical Theology (MET)

Bachelor of Arts degree/diploma or its equivalent in Bible or theology (e.g. BDiv, BTh, etc.) from an approved institution. The minimum requirement is 180 ECTS, including approximately 40 ECTS in Bible, 25 ECTS in Systematic Theology and Church History, and 40 ECTS in Practical Ministry at the minimal equivalent of a Dutch HBO or school of higher professional education. It will be viewed positively if you have already taken classes in English, Hebrew, and Greek, or you have already written a thesis. Additionally, two exams mentioned below will provide an assessment for Tyndale on your placement in this program.

  • Master of Evangelical Theology (MET) Critical Thinking Exam
This exam will be emailed to you later for your response during the application process.

  • Master of Evangelical Theology (MET) Validation Exam
This exam is administered at Tyndale before the summer term begins. It tests the knowledge that you already have for the Old Testament, New Testament, Systematic Theology and Church History – it is geared toward basic knowledge of these subjects. Scores on these tests will determine if deficiencies need to be addressed, and, in some cases, if the MET is the best fit for the student.

Certificate of Theological Studies (CTS)*

Bachelor of Arts/Science degree or equivalent from an approved vocational or academic institution. The applicant’s first degree should include 180-240 ECTS or 3-4 academic years of study. In instances where the certificate is taken as a terminal program, the Examination Board may grant acceptance to the program outside these parameters.

Certificate of Christian Studies / Tyndale by Extension (TBE)*

Anyone with a desire to grow in his/her Christian faith may take classes at Tyndale. Registration through the form is simple and is possible until the date of the first class period. The following links provide information regarding classes available during the upcoming terms and how to register.

*Please note that the CTS and TBE programs are only available for candidates from within the European Union.
